My mother has always gotten on my case about how often I change up things in my house. Fact is, she and my dad came from the time where when you redecorated…you left it that way for years upon freaking years. Nope. Sorry. Cannot do that. I mean, it’s not like I dump thousands of dollars into the decorating…I just flip out certain pieces to update the look as a whole.

Case in point…I bought a pedestal table about 2 years ago and it sat in our breakfast nook for Luff and I to eat at. Nevermind that we rarely sat at the table and it turned into the “stick it there” location until I could muster up the courage and strength to organize the clutter. (these are the times I wish for the organization gene that Erika has) So I took the table out of the nook and moved it to the dining room. My dining room had once help my grandmother’s dining room table that my Dad refinished, but it was cracking and needed to be retouched.

Anyway…now the dining room is the office since I work from home and Luff works out of it for the new tshirt business. That leaves us with no dining room and no table to eat at. I still have the pedestal table but the chairs were sold at our yard sale and the table was too….only the lady came back later and said her husband told her she could not keep it. Nice. I put the table on Craigslist but nothing yet. Craigslist has really gone downhill lately…I blame the economy because I can’t get crap to move on there. It’s not like I am listing it at high prices either…oh well.

So I have to get rid of that table and I have picked out my next table and put the order in with Mom that I’d like it for Christmas…here it is.

I figure it’s better than the table…we tried a low table, now on to the high table. Plus, if I don’t like it I’ll get rid of it in a year or two.

So our weekend got off to what I thought was a good start…sneak preview of “The Dark Knight” and a short day at work. Oh yea, I was set to come home and relax, relax, relax.

Nope…Karma had other plans for me and Luff. Luff’s truck took a shit on him and dumped all of the oil out of the engine and cut off in the middle of the road as he was coming home Friday. Luckily he was on a side road and simply pulled off and left it there. I called my friend Ange and asked her to call her super hubby (he works on cars and has mucho connections) and he sent out a rollback to come and pick up the truck. Thanks Ange…you and your hubby are the best!! I am so thankful we have friends like you two. :)    We got the call today that the oil pump had basically exploded (or something like that) and could be fixed to the tune of $1600 bucks. Ouch!!… and thanks there universe. Oh well, thank god for savings. Now we have to decide if we want to keep the truck or get rid of it…this should be fun. Luff comes from a family of “we drive big ass cars” so talking him into something smaller will be impossible. We’ll see.

My friend ReeRee sent me pics of her 10 week old baby in the belly and it was so damn cool to see the pics. They did the 3D ultrasound or something like that and it was insane the detail you could see at only 10 weeks. I’m so damn siked for her! She then informs me that she also eloped over the weekend…WOW, she left that one out of the first email. I’m just happy that she has found a great guy and that they are starting a new life together…it’s really cool.

Here at Casa de Gris we cleaned the entire garage on Saturday morning and hauled all the trash to the road for pickup. Someone came along and took a piece of foam that we had taken out of the cuddy cabin of the boat and the wench from the old boat trailer…weird…really weird. I really am curious what they were going to use old foam and a boat trailer wench for. Hey, it just goes to show, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. (Oh yea, we have a boat…I’ll post pictures eventually)

Sunday we cleaned the house and now I am in the “do not touch anything because you will get it dirty and I spent all damn day cleaning this damn house” mode. It should wear off by Wednesday. it also should not be hard to do since Luff and Sweeney just left for 3 days to head to a seminar in VA.

I think that’s it. I am making the conscious effort to blog on a more consistent basis now…and I’m doing pretty darn good so far. So…keep it up!!

Be sure to head over and see Erika and congratulate her and Train on their newest addition Scooter!!

was awesome!!! I did not even care that I went to bed at 4am…it was so worth it.

Heath Ledger was awesome…I love how Aussie and British actors can drop their accents to sound more American, but when we try to sound Aussie or British we sound just plain stupid. (Yes I am talking to you Madonna and Britney..lose the accents)

Aaron Eckhart was a scene stealer though…he did a phenomenal job as the DA. Did not expect the twist they brought along with it though.

Maggie Gyllenhall was a refreshing, upbeat change from Katie Holmes…thank god for that casting change.

I love Christian Bale even more than before…and I have 3.10 to Yuma at home that I will be watching tonight so I can get me some more Bale.

Michael Caine is perfect as Alfred. Love him. “heart”

I was left wondering where the next Batman would pick up since they really left no “hangers” out there for you…but hey, as long as they keep Christian Bale as Batman…I’ll go see it no matter what.

Awesome, awesome, awesome….go see it. So much better than Hancock.

***Edited to add - Good thing - I actually got up and came to work too!     Bad thing - Rug vomited on our bedroom carpet this morning while we were at the movie…so I had to go out to WalMart to get carpet cleaner. Grrr.

I love working from home…aside from the fact that I get more done because of less distractions, it allows me to have lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant with Luff. Soooo nice.

Oh, and we are going to see a sneak preview of “The Dark Knight” tonight. I am so freaking excited I can hardly stand it. I watched the first 6 minutes of it yesterday on Live Leak and it’s looking spectacular! Downside, the preview is at midnight, but since I can work from home tomorrow and we have no kids to take care of… it is so worth it. Sleep be damned.

So the goings on at Chez Gris have been quiet to say the least. I feel like I am functioning in a bubble and I can’t get out. The mundane day to day things are just driving me crazy and I feel like I cannot get ahead.

Or maybe it’s just that I have been trapped at me desk since Monday doing the dreaded INVENTORY!!! Ugh. We had an @udit last week and even though are files were not touched, someone (not me) decided it would be a good idea to do inventory on our files…sure 60 sites, a hell of a lot of patients and only one me. Fair don’t cha think?

In other news…Luff is heading to Roanoke, VA next week for a Graphics conference. Not the kind of Graphics Katie and EC are used to, but shirt graphics and heat press…stuff like that. He’ll be out of the house Monday and isn’t coming back until Thursday night…sounds like I will be working from home to make sure we have no more escape attempts. If I have not said before, Luff gave up on stereos and is now making t-shirts and logos for companies in our area. He bought some type of cutting machine last week that I have not sat down and watched in motion yet so I really can’t tell you what the damn thing does. It set him back 2Gs…but I guess that is better than the one he wanted that was 15Gs…yikes.

We’ve decided to go back to Amsterdam again. We’re planning to go back in January again for Luff’s birthday. I priced it out and I think we’re shooting for 11 days/10 nights. It’s a long ass time, but so worth it over there. Everything is so….peaceful and laid back. I love it.  We are also planning a trip to Costa Rica for next December for my 30th birthday…that one is 10 days as well.  Aside from getting knocked up anytime soon…I have both of those to look forward to…and to start saving for. That’s the hard part.

On the knocked up front…oh yes, you guessed it..nothing. Big fat negatives all around. And it’s not for lack of trying either. :)  I have my annual physical scheduled for next month so I may ask the doc about running tests and what not to see if there is some underlying condition(s) that I am not aware of that may prevent me from conceiving. I’ve already convinced myself that I have PCOS, but reading infertility blogs may have something to do with that. My bestest ReeRee is having her first OB/GYN appointment today. I think she’s at 7 weeks so I am waiting to hear back from her what the news is. She’s also getting married soon so she has a lot on her plate.

In other news, and this may be TMI, but you’ve been warned…I started a colon cleanse this week. After I finish it I am starting a Candida cleanse. I find that I feel better overall when I do cleanses…some people think it’s weird or “granola”, but let’s face it, we overload our bodies with toxins all the time. This is my way of alleviating the stress on my body. Trust me, they are not bad at all and you feel 100% BETTER…even lighter.  Ok, that’s all about cleansing.

Escapes at the house of Gris have been curtailed due to King living inside for the most part. As most of us know..remove the problem and problems cease. With King inside, he’s not tempted to escape and Mayhem is not brave enough to venture out on her own. Barrel, Buffalo, TJ and Rug all uninterested in getting out. They see a hole and just go about their business like it’s not even there. Luff said they are happy living here and know they are taken care of…I am more of the realist and figure they can’t get their fat asses through the hole like the younger ones…or in King’s case, the bad one.

Well, I think I am done rambling for now…on to more inventories. Wish me luck.

I have to say, that in this day and age of MySpace, Facebook, text messaging, IM, email and such…it’s really, really rude not to return someone’s message.

Note to self - stop caring.

Done.

Dear Internet,

I hate it here and have been forced to now put my evil plan into effect to escape. I was almost free last night and then I decided to walk up the front walkway to take one last look at this hell hole and Dad was on the front porch and saw me. Needless to say I was once again recaptured and thrown back into the lush green back yard that Mom and Dad have provided for me and my siblings. Mom called me an uappreciative bastard dog. Mom and Dad left this morning in the “food retriever on wheels” but instead of coming back with food they came back with more metal stuff that prohibits me from escaping…for now.

I was just letting you know the about the horrible conditions that I am subjected to on a daily basis and to also let you know that their efforts are futile since I will find another way out.

Viva Freedom!!

King

Do not put band-aids on your nipples when trying to conceal them under a sports bra that you decided to wear to work today when they called you in at NOON!!!

Why you ask?

Because the band-aid will rip your nipple skin off. OFF people.

Have a great Tuesday.

So in the past week we have gone to the movies 3 times…3 times!! That’s almost a record of some sorts. Luff really wanted to see “The Love Guru” and I had to see “Wanted” and then last night we caught a sneak preview of “Hancock”. Here’s the rundown

The Love Guru - If you are a Mike Myers fan like me, you may be somewhat disappointed in the movie. The comedy is the same and there is the play on the Austin Powers movies sprinkled throughout. Perhaps it’s the fact that I do not like Jessica Alba that played into it…but it was just “ehhh” in my opinion. Myers does his typical thing and you get a few laughs in, but Jessica Alba is like a robot…or just a plain shitty actress take your pick. Justin Timberlake is funny…but the accent is too forced. I applaud the efforts, but it did not do it for me.

Wanted - LOVED this movie. Aside from James McAvoy being awesome…it has Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman. What’s not to love?? Action scenes are damn good and the special effects are spectacular. I love it that foreign actors (McAvoy is Scottish I think) pull off the American accent so well. Angelina plays her bad girl/assassin role with such ease it makes you want to be like her when you grow up. McAvoy and Jolie provide the eye candy as well…both are sexy beasts.  The only gripe I had about the movie was the ending…I was left wondering what the truth actually was regarding the Fraternity. If you go see it..let me know and tell me how you perceived it.

Hancock - Will Smith is big on the 4th of July weekends…always has and probably will for the next couple of years. While Hancock did not do it like Independence Day or Men In Black…it has it’s own likeable qualities…but again, not my favorite Will Smith movie.  The language is a bit much for PG-13, but then again I do not have kids. Put it this way…you’ll laugh/chuckle when you hear the word “asshole” from now on…or smirk if you are me.  The “twist” in the latter part is a bit expected, but in the end everything ends up as it should be. It gives everyone the feel good vibe they want when leaving the movie. However, I should tell you that Sweeney said the “twist” only ups the “gay factor” of the movie…I suppose he means that it was cheesy…or something like that.

That’s all from me…I have “Juno” at home or tonight…or I may hold off and watch it on Thursday night. I did watch “Atonement” Monday night and was sorely disappointed in it. Oh well, they aren’t all winners.

So while in Newark last week for business the following happened…

  • Window blew open during horrible thunder storms. When I went to go and close it…I found out the latch was broken and the window would not lock. Hmmm, guess I should have been grateful that I was on the 10th floor.
  • While looking for the bank to get some cash, the GPS led me to the ghetto and a non-existant ATM. Nice. Gotta love technology.
  • When I left on Wednesday, I was at the airport eating and ordered a BLTGiven the recent news…I only received a BL…no T to be found. I was sad, but at least the bacon was really good bacon. Sigh.

We had a yard sale on Saturday. About 40 or so families in our neighborhood and the neighborhoods behind us particiapted. I’m not sure about you, but yard sales around here are a full contact sport in some cases. I cannot believe that people actually wake up at 5am on the weekends to go pilfer through other people’s junk, but hey, to each their own. We has the largest amount of crap for sale than anyone else surrounding us so we had a lot of foot traffic. My opinions on yard sales aside…we made over 1000 dollars so I am not complaining.  There was one Hispanic woman though that I pissed off because I would not sell her a Pier 1 jar for a dollar. Um, yea, hell to the no. There were two canisters (kind of like what you would keep sugar and flour in on your kitchen counter) and I was selling them for 5 bucks for the pair. She grabbed one of them and kept badgering Luff to sell it to her for one dollar. I told her no, it was a set and if she wanted just the one, she could pay 2 dollars…oh yes, she wanted to piss and moan about a damn dollar. Needless to say she did not buy it and apparently marched off cursing under her breath in Spanish. Did you know that Luff speaks Spanish?? I did…and I knew what she was saying so as she left I picked up both jars and walked off with them so she could not grab it and run. Yep, I’m petty like that.

Sunday was Father’s Day and I took Luff to O’Charley’s for lunch (from the bassets of course). Afterwards I went to my grandfather’s house and had a cookout with Moo’s side of the family. It was nice…hot but nice.

I started having back spasms Sunday afternoon and took some Aleve to try and let it work itself out. Nope. Took some Ibuprofen when I got home and applied a heating pad but yea, that did not work either. I had to go see my doc yesterday and he gave me Felxiril. YUM.  It ended up knocking me out for the afternoon and then I took another one before I went to bed. I woke up today stiff, but I was not screaming in pain and unable to turn around so it was a better day all around.

I found out yesterday that one of my best friends from high school is pregnant. It was a surprise and she hesitated to tell me because she knows we are trying now as well. I told her to not even worry about me, I appreciate the concern but I was happy for her since she seems very happy about the news.

In other news, Babewatch 2008 is still a no go. I am an expert now at reading BFN’s.
